Coffered Ceiling in Sparta, NJ
This coffered ceiling project was designed to create 9 coffers with (4) 4in LED recess lights installed in the intersection of the beams. To build this project, we first installed our blocking with glue and nails. Next we install the beams, which are joined together with a 1/4 in splice glued and installed into a slot that we cut with our router. We then install a 3 1/2 in inverted base board moulding and 4 1/2 in crown moulding to create each coffer. Coffered ceilings can be done in a variety of sizes and layouts. A coffered ceiling designed with many smaller coffers will create a more intimate feel in a room that can work well in certain spaces. This architectural element has been used for centuries, and can add great detail to just about any room in your house.
